About Bruce

 Dear Friends & Neighbors,

As Marina residents, we have seen considerable change over the past few years, with much more change to come. Over the next two years, critical decisions will be made to guide us into the future. I am running for Mayor of Marina because I am concerned that, as we continue to grow, we have lost sight of the value of community. I believe it’s time to take the politics out of our community and get back to the business of making our town viable and convenient for residents and local businesses.

I ask for your support for my candidacy, as I strive to set and achieve these goals:

  1. Fully fund public safety and recreation—without bankrupting the city
  2. Begin implementation of the downtown economic development plan
  3. End record general fund budget deficits and protect vital reserve savings
  4. Prioritize the needs of the citizens; affordable housing; economically and environmentally sustainable growth; an expanded Marina High School

While I was on Marina City Council, the budget was balanced the skate park, and new baseball and football fields were built. During this time, plans were prepared for your new library and transit center, downtown redevelopment planning was well underway, and major Fort Ord projects were approved. Four years later, downtown redevelopment still hasn’t begun and Fort Ord projects have stalled. I believe residents are losing trust in their City’s leadership. Regrettably, last year’s general fund had a $2 million, deficit, this year’s contains a whopping $5 million, deficit—more than 30% of the entire general fund budget!
I ask for your support for my candidacy for mayor. Together we can rebuild financial security, revitalize our downtown, and renew our trust in community leadership. I pledge to support smart, balanced growth; fiscal responsibility; and open, responsive government.

Sincerely,
Bruce Delgado
