Wilmot Risks Marina's Budget

By kevin - Posted on 28 September 2008

Marina citizens were told there is "no risk" involved to the city in the $106 million promise of tax increment funds in the revised proposal from The Dunes Marina Community Partners.

But Mayor Wilmot told a different story to Gov. Schwarzenegger in this Sept. 3 letter. Wilmot warned the governor that local government agencies' "financial commitments will be jeopardized if the tax increment is taken to support the budget problems." He further warns, "by taking tax increment revenues, this key local development project will be placed at risk, as will the jobs, housing, and economic benefits to ...the City." Our city's developments and fiscal health are at risk, vote November 4 for responsible growth, vote Bruce Delgado, Marina Campaign for Change.
